Week 1: Role of technology and media

The role of technology and media in Education.

In week 1 we looked at:

A. The six categories of media and how technology enhances and improve learning.
B. Difference between old and new technology.
C. Different learning styles.
D. Types of learners.
E. Four main theories of learning.

Week 1. Gmail and Hotmail

Task: Create email accounts:

• Gmail with contacts and group contact list
• Hotmail with contacts and group contact list

Steps:

1. Go to www.gmail.com and www.live.com
2. Complete the general information
3. Sign into the email account created
4. Click on the dropdown menu/apps icon
5. Select contacts/people
6. Add each individual email using the "new - contacts and contacts group/list" feature
7.  Using Manage or More tab you may import contacts from another email account

The challenge I faced was finding how to add contacts to my gmail using my iPad. I had to call a friend who explained to me that I had to switch to desktop mood in order to add contacts. 
Everything ran smoothly from there.💃

Conclusion: At the end of week one I learnt alot. The lessons were very informative and I now know how to add contacts to my gmail, I am now also familiar with the types of learning styles and the different categories of media which has now placed me in a better position to deal with the children in my classroom.
